Why is McCain Pro-War When Veterans Often Are Not?
Tue Jun 10, 2008 at 02:09:51 PM PDT
Many, if not most, veterans of war are extremely cautious and reluctant to start war or endorse war. Why is John McCain so pro-war? After thinking about this a lot, I want to share my admittedly non-professional psychological analysis of John McCain that I hope may shed light on his pro-war stance. Comments by accredited professionals are welcome.
I will start by saying that I honor John McCain's military service and stand in awe of what he went through. Nonetheless, experiences in war cause psychological effects for the warrior, such as PTSD, and we are now looking at a candidate for President, not just a war hero, so we must look at his psychological health, as well as physical health, for holding the highest office in the land.
Is Jack Cafferty our friend?
Fri Oct 20, 2006 at 08:59:22 PM PDT
I'm watching the Jack Cafferty-hosted program on CNN called "Broken Government." And, don't get me wrong, Jack Cafferty is speaking out (loudly!) about the wrongs in our government. I'm happy to see that!
However, I heard his interview by Sam Seder on Air America a few days ago, and Cafferty was in the mode of "throw the bums out" and unable, apparently, to see the difference between Bob Ney, Mark Foley and Harry Reid! Cafferty was referring to the Harry Reid so-called scandal where Reid put some land deal into an LLC, yet reported his ownership every year to the Senate. Sam Seder tried to explain that Cafferty was wrong in assuming a moral equivalency by lumping these guys together. Cafferty would have none of it.

At the Democratic Policy Committee's latest hearing Monday on the Halliburton overcharges (and misconduct) in Iraq, witnesses testified to the overcharging, and lots more outrageous conduct, by Halliburton and KBR, its subsidiary, while they are being paid huge sums by the American taxpayers! Bill Moyers on Income Gap in America
Tue Jun 21, 2005 at 03:48:22 AM PDT
Lou Dobbs had Bill Moyers on last night and Moyers made some excellent points on the current income gap in America.
The inequality in this country is greater than it's been since 1929. When I went to Washington in 1960, the gap between the highest paid and the lowest paid was 20-fold. Now it's 75-fold.
Notice the year he mentions that previously had such a gap? 1929. Hmmm. He goes on:
Republican Hypocrisy Reminder
Wed May 25, 2005 at 06:25:00 AM PDT
My first diary ever, and sorry if this is old news, but it's a subject that didn't seem to get very detailed coverage throughout the Nuclear Option debates. So just a reminder of the fascinating details of how the Senate Republicans changed Judiciary Committee rules since 1996 to destroy the Democrats' ability to block judicial confirmations in any way other than through use of the filibuster. More below.
